The Commission Chronicles
Gift for Saital-Rasha: Crystoldia’s Destruction.

                           !WARNING!

EXTREMELY EMOTIONAL CHAPTER! READ AT OWN RISK OF SHEDDING TEARS! THINK LATIOS’ DEATH MULTIPLIED TIMES A NUMBER ABOVE 1 OF YOUR CHOOSING!

NOTE: This is NOT actually in the TCC series. Do not freak out. It was a request that takes place way after where you are. And I was trying to figure out a way to give you all a visual on what would happen if Lateon ever did fail in his Guardianship of Crystoldia.

Once again, this is NOT real.

I sat in the Main Chamber, feeling anything BUT calm.

Crystoldia’s location had been revealed. And a combined assault from all the crime organizations that could make it there was there. Drilling, mining and chipping away to get to Crystoldia.

Somehow, Crystoldia’s ‘protection field’ had been compromised, and there was nothing to stop them from entering.

Latria flew over to me, a very worried look on her face. “Lateon…” She said softly as she put her hand on my shoulder. “This can’t be the end, you will find a way to stop them. I know it.”

I looked up at her with tears in my eyes. “Latria… There’s nothing I can do. In this situation, I wouldn’t be able to defeat them all. Unless I went Cataclysmic.”

     Her eyes widened. “You wouldn’t!”

I shook my head. “I can’t… I cannot unleash that on the world. Or you…”

“Then we’ll stand our ground.” She said sternly. “We’ve gone through hardship after hardship before. And we can still go through it.”

I looked back at the floor. I wanted to believe, but I couldn’t escape the ominous feeling I had. A feeling that impending defeat was at hand.

Then I heard a voice. “Daddy…” It said. “What’s going on?”

I looked up and saw our 3 year old son, Larius. While only three, he had learned to speak and fly very fast.

“What’s wrong daddy?” He asked me with that young innocent voice. It tore me apart.

I wiped away a tear and picked him up. “I don’t know.” I told him. “But I’m sure you’ll be alright.”

Latria flew back into my line of view. It seemed that my ominous feelings were shared by the look on her face.

“Larius…” She said. “Come here, Daddy needs some time alone.”

Larius happily flew over to her, and she carried him to our room.

I got up and did the equivalent of pacing while flying. My mind was rushing through things.

“Why does my family have to be involved? Why is this happening? What IS going to happen? What can I do? What could possibly be done?”

More small rocks fell from the ceiling, they were advancing rapidly.

I immediately started devising a plan. One to get us all to safety, if everything went right… -Thunk!-

A larger chunk of rock fell, smashing some crystals.

Larius poked his head out of the doorway. “Daddy? What was that?”

“It’s nothing son.” I choked back, the realization of the danger that my son was in overwhelming me.

Latria flew up to me. “Do… Do you really think we won’t make it?”

I hung my head. “I can say nothing for sure… Except that I will do everything in my power to keep you and Larius safe.”

     I heard her sniffle. “Th-That’s what I’m afraid of Lateon…” She cried. “I don’t want you to…”

I reached over and hugged her tight. “Latria… I promised those many years ago, that I would stay faithful to you till death do us part…”

She slapped me. “SHUT UP!” She yelled. “You are NOT going to die! Stop saying that!”

She started to cry harder, and soon I joined in.

Then she hugged me. “I’m sorry… I’m SO sorry Lateon…”

I patted her back. “Shh shh shh…” I whispered. “Easy, easy, don’t you wor-ry… E-verything will be, okay…”

She hummed along with the tune, and kissed me. “Thank you… That helped more than you could know…”

I just nodded and looked at the ceiling. I immediately moved us out of the way as a large boulder fell.

Latria screamed in surprise, and Larius flew out of our room.

“MOMMY!” He yelled as he flew over.

Latria just held him. “Lai… I told you to stay in the room…”

“I was worried about you mommy…” He replied quietly. “I’m sorry…”

Latria just held him, and looked at me. “It’ll be okay Lai…”

Another boulder fell, and Larius looked up at me.

“Take him to the Pool Room.” I told Latria. “And stay there, please… No matter what happens, stay with him.”

Latria opened her mouth to speak, but I stopped her. “No… Please, just do it…”

She nodded sadly and flew to the Pool Room with Larius, glancing back at me with tears streaming down her face.

I turned back towards the entrance. It wouldn’t be long now.

I heard Latria singing to our son back in the Pool Room, and I closed my eyes, listening to the soothing song.

Just then the rumble became a roar as the first drill ground through the ceiling and into the chamber.

I quickly fired a Crystal Cannon into the opening it made, destroying a good portion of the machine on that side.

It made an explosion, and I heard people scream outside of it.

A few soldiers appeared next to the hole with machine guns, and began to fire. There were only a few, so I dispatched of them without much problem.

Then another drill broke through, and another. I started hearing engines further on down the entrance tunnel. They had breached Crystoldia.

I had to shield myself as dynamite charges blew up all around the massive chamber’s roof. I phased into the wall to avoid the giant boulders that fell.

When I phased back into the chamber, there were already soldiers and vehicles pouring in from the entrance, they had all struck at once.

I shot down to them and flipped a tank, slashing it open with Blade of Reckoning as I took them by surprise.

A few recovered after the tank had exploded, and began to fire, forcing me to phase back into the ground to avoid the fire.

Other’s hopped up onto their jeeps, .50 Cal machine guns at the ready.

I shot crystals up from the ground beneath them and detonated them, creating chaos.

I phased back out and fired a barrage of energy spheres into a group of soldiers, aiming for an ammo supply truck.

I took out some of the soldiers, but was immediately being fired upon again. A tank shot a shell in my direction and it made a crater in the wall.

I couldn’t stay up for more than a few seconds, cause there were so many soldiers firing.

I created more crystals and detonated them as well, it was about all I could do without the chance of being shot instantly.

I flipped a jeep over and fired Crystal Stream into another group, they were never ending!

I heard gunshots, and ducked back down. But not before my right wing got clipped.

I gritted my teeth and concentrated as best I could to phase back into the ground. The shot burned like somebody had just tied a burning stick to my wing.

Then, with the massive hole in the ceiling, choopers began to lower into the cave.

I couldn’t go like this forever, so it was time to enact my plan. And pray that it worked.

I quickly phased into the Pool Room, Latria and Larius jumped at my sudden presence. Then Latria saw the wound.

“Lateon!” She yelled. “You’ve been shot!”

I nodded, ignoring the pain “I know… Please, you have to get out of here! I have a plan, but all it is is just phasing out and away from Crystoldia.”

Latria shook her head. “What about Crystoldia?”

I swallowed. “I know what to do, but you getting to safety is top priority. I can ensure that they don’t get Crystoldia.”

Latria looked at me. “You’re… You’re coming with us, aren’t you?”

I looked up at her. “If fate wills it….”

She shook her head again. “I AM NOT LEAVING YOU!”

I pointed to Larius. “Then you doom him to death? Our son deserves life, please. Just do it…”

     Latria started crying. “I-I-I…”

I pulled her close and kissed her. “Latria, I will do my best. But please! GO NOW!”

She kissed back, then looked at me, tears streaming down her face as she nodded.

I flew back toward the Main Chamber, and came face to face with an entire army with guns drawn.

In a split second, I looked back and saw Latria and Larius, staring wide eyed at the army.

I flung out my hands and put up a shield just as they started firing.

My eyes bugged from the energy consumption I was using to stop so many bullets.

I instantly started to feel faint. The smell of the fired guns and smoke from the explosions. It all seemed but a dream.

     But no… I couldn’t give up… Latria… Larius… They would be shot…

     I couldn’t… I can’t… I CAN’T… I WON’T!!!

I screamed out in agony, energy pulsing around me from the force I was exerting. My energy would have already run out had Crystoldia not been giving me more.

     But just not fast enough.

Just as soon as the soldiers ran out of ammo, I couldn’t hold the shield any longer.

I threw my head back and roared out as I sent the held bullets flying away, taking out a good portion of the soldiers.

There were still a few, and I felt them rip into me, my wings, neck paws. It burned so bad!

I barely saw Latria’s mouth open in a scream I couldn’t hardly hear. Larius’ face the very picture of shock and terror.

The soldiers could have fired again by now… Why not?

     Then someone kicked me.

I yelped in pain as he hit a spot that a bullet had entered. Oh gawd it hurt!

I willed myself up and looked weakly at the leader of the intrusion force.

He smiled evilly down at me.

I screamed to Latria. “RUUUUUUUUUNN!!! GET TO ALTOMARE! MY FRIENDS WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU THERE!” The soldiers started to raise their guns.

Latria pulled Larius into the wall just as the soldiers began to fire.

I expected them to hit me, but they simply ricochet off the wall where Latria and Larius had just phased into.

“Altomare eh?” The leader said. “We’ll simply chase them down now that you’ve told us where they’re headed.”

I pulled myself up as far as I could force myself to. My vision was blurry, and everything seemed so far away. But I knew just what he was saying.

     “You… Will do no… Such… Thing…” I coughed.

“And why not?” The leader laughed. “There’s nothing you can do anymore. I could simply let you die, there’s no hope for you.”

I chuckled, then coughed. “Yeah… Perhaps not for me… But I will ensure that none of you… Escape from here…”

He looked at me strangely. “What?” He asked, reaching for his gun. “You’re nearly dead, and can’t hardly move… What could you possibly do?”

“This…” I replied as my eyes began to glow.

A crystal back further in the tunnel randomly exploded, followed by another.

“What the?!” The leader stepped back. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! STOP IT!”

I smiled faintly. “The object of your greed… Is now your end…” I closed my eyes as he turned to me, a crystal exploding right next to him. “Say goodbye… To your wasted… Life…”

I fell back onto the ground, suddenly feeling very cold. And with my last breath, I sent a message to Latria, who was far away by now.

- - - - - - - - - -

Latria was flying away as fast as she could with Larius in her arms. She had never traveled so fast that she could remember.

Suddenly, she felt a telepathic message from Lateon. And her heart stopped beating when she heard it.

     “I… Love you… Latria… I always… Will…” He said. “I only wish… That I could watch our son grow… Please, take… Care of him…”

Latria spun around and screamed at the top of her lungs toward Crystoldia.

     “LAAATEEEEEOOOONNN!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!”

Just then, a massive green explosion erupted from Crystoldia’s direction.

She turned away and flew as fast as she could for Altomare. She could hardly see with the tears streaming down her face.

     Her Lateon… Was gone… It couldn’t be true…

- - - - - - - - - -

Most of the soldiers back at Crystoldia had been virtually destroyed by the massive blast.

     However, it wasn’t over yet.

Chain reactions of Crystalline explosions rocked Crystoldia from it’s depths, to the surface. Nothing could, or would escape.

Tanks were obliterated and vaporized from the undeterminable levels of power being vented.

- - - - - - - - - -

Latria crashed into the Secret Garden of Altomare, cushioning Larius’ impact with her own body.

Latias and Latios immediately flew down to them.

“What’s going on?!” Latias asked Latria worriedly. “Where’s Lateon?! We saw the explosion even from here!”

Latios helped Latria up, and she was weeping uncontrollably.

     “L-L-Lateon… H-He’s… He’s dead!…”

Latias and Latios both sat there, stunned at the words.

Larius poked Latria. “Mommy… Please, it’s not true… Not daddy…”

     Latria just started wailing again.

Suddenly Latias flew up, staring in horror at the horizon towards Crystoldia.

Clouds above Crystoldia were swirling, massive bolts of lighting striking constantly around it.

Then it all stopped. The sky darkened as if it was night, then lit up green as a shaft of energy blew from all of Crystoldia into the sky. Chunks of land the size of states could be seen blowing straight into the sky.

Clouds were forming and disappearing all over the world as the forces held in Crystoldia for as long as the planet had existed were unleashed in one massive energy shaft.

Eventually, it stopped, and the sky slowly faded back to normal.

     It was over…

But Crystoldia had not departed without leaving it’s mark. A crater half the size of the continent stretched in the ocean and land mass itself, most of Crystoldia’s energy having plunged into the heavens, so as to not destroy the planet.

Now only a crater left, forever to be a reminder of what happened that day.

21 years later…

Larius was flying around in the water in the center of the crater that now took up a good portion of the planet.

He recalled the day he saw his father give his life to save them all. And closed his eyes, trying to then purge the terrible memory.

He dove deep down into the crater, further and further. The deeper he went, the darker it got, and the easier it was for him to forget the memory.

He passed a group of Chinchou, and kept going. Even down here there was a new place for life to spring from.

He had never gone this far before, but he pushed on further. It had become somewhat of a goal of his to swim as deep as he could. Trying to best his previous record.

He traveled further, the pressure pushing in on him. But he knew he could keep going, it seemed as if he felt called to do so.

Then he suddenly hit the bottom. He stopped and felt the bottom, it was nearly pitch black here, and he reveled in the fact that he had successfully made it.

He raised his fist in triumph, but was immediately distracted.

A small light off in the distance.

A Chinchou perhaps? Surely not this deep.

He swam to it, and found it was under the mud. But shone through brightly.

He put his paw into the mud and scooped it up. Wiping the mud off to reveal the full beauty of a triangular glowing green crystal.
Wow...

That was depressing. :[

For those of you who need something more cheerful, here's a twist I threw on the story to avoid Lateon dying.

!Saital-rasha, don't EVER ask me to do that again.
I can't possibly understand what makes you enjoy such endings, but I couldn't stand it.

That's why I added that little bit at the end, at least something hopeful.

I didn't know I was capable of such writing. I witnessed the power of my skill with writing emotion firsthand as I was writing this.

I for goodness sake started crying as I was writing this. :O

So yeah, I hope you all like this, if possible.

And yes, Larius is my son. <_<"....

I own Lateon and his name, Latria and her name, Larius and his name, Crystoldia and it’s name, the Guidecrystal and it’s name, The Commission Chronicles, and Council of Shadow, their names and plots. It is all © of me, =Vypor.

I DO NOT HOWEVER, OWN POKEMON, LATIAS, LATIOS, OR THE CONCEPT OF EON POKEMON!
I made this purely for the enjoyment of myself and others. The story and plot I do own though.</b>
