The Commission Chronicles
Chapter 21: Rescue.

“Oh my gosh! You did?!” Latias was excited beyond belief by now. “Whoa there! Easy Latias!” I said as I pulled my hands out of hers before her bobbing up and down excitedly ripped them off.

“What was it like?! Did you find anything?! Was there anybody there?! Tell me!” I just stared at her. “What in the world has gotten into you Latias?! I’ve NEVER seen you this excited.”

She slowed down and finally took a breath. “Well, I just wanted to know what Crystoldia was like.” She said. “All I’ve ever known about it was rumors and the tiny, not very informative tidbits that have been passed down over time.”

“I see.” I mused. “Well, I can say it was shiny. VERY shiny!” I then realized it was a mistake to tell her that. Her eyes grew big and that bubbling excitement began to start up again.

“SHINY?! I love shiny! What kind of shiny?! What was it that was shiny?! Wha-” I cut her short. “Dude! Calm down before you kill yourself!” She stopped but the look was still in her eyes.

“Wait!” She said. “We have to tell the rest of the resistance!” She grabbed my hand once again and jerked me into the hallway. “Gah! What the crap?!” I exclaimed as I was drug down the corridors.

I got my hand back and Latias stopped. “Hurry up!” She said as she started flying down the hallway again.

“Wait!…” We both turned around and saw Allie gasping for breath trying to keep up with us. “Allie!” I flew over to her and picked her up. She was tired, really tired.

“Geez, you okay?” I asked as she took another breath. “I… wanted to tell you… something…” She said. “What is it?” I asked again. “(whew) You guys sure take off fast!…” she gasped. “Heh, well what I wanted to tell you is that I’ve finally been allowed to go with the scavenging party…”

Latias quickly flew over. “You have?!” She said, once again excitedly. “You’ve been wanting to do that for so long now. And your parents are finally letting you?”

Allie nodded. “We’re gonna go to Pecha Falls, so we won’t be too far away.” Latias smiled. “Well congratulations! I knew you’d get the chance sooner or later!” Allie smiled back. “Thanks Latias! Well, I had better get ready to go. We leave pretty soon.”

I set Allie back down and she ran off as we waved goodbye. “Well that’s pretty cool!” Latias said. I looked over at her. “Why is that?” I asked.

She looked at me. “Well it’s considered a privilege to be able to go outside for one thing. But being part of the scavenging group is another. You get to go gather food for the colony, and you’re held in pretty high regard to be trusted to do that.”

I nodded. “Hmm, makes sense. You don’t exactly want defectors running off do you?” Latias shook her head. “No, no you don’t.”

All of a sudden she got that look in her eyes again. “Uh oh…” I said as she darted off towards the meeting hall again. “I almost forgot! We have to tell the othe-” Her voice trailed off as she rounded another corner.

I just shook my head. “(sigh) Well, I guess I’ll meet her there.” I said as I began to simply phase through the walls straight to the Meeting hall.

I arrived before Latias and was greeted by a couple of Pokemon. “Whoa!” They exclaimed as I phased out of the wall right next to them.

“Oh hey, I don’t suppose you could tell everybody to meet in here could you?” I asked them. I could tell from their looks that not just anybody was authorized to use the intercom system.

“Never mind…” I said as Latias flew into the room. “He had better get here soon!” She said, then spotting me out of the corner of her eye. “WHA?! How did youu… Never mind…” She said as she remembered my ability to phase through solid objects.

I chuckled and flew over to her. “Show off.” She sad with a pouty look on her face. “Aww, does wittle Watias need a hug?” I said, noting her struggle to keep a straight face.

“Don’t even start.” She said. Then a thought hit me. “Hey Latias?” I asked. “Are you authorized to use the intercom?” She just looked at me.

“Lateon, they installed it while I was gone. And nobody ever even showed me how to use it.” I just shook my head again. “Well, I guess we had better just fetch Mewtwo from bed huh?” I said.

We flew off towards the medical facilities, and looked for Mewtwo’s room. It wasn’t hard to find him.

“I refuse to be stuck in here any longer!” I heard Mewtwo say to the by then very-flustered nurse. “Well the doctor says you have to stay here until further notice!” She yelled back.

“Well fortunately for Mewtwo, ‘until then’ is right now.” I said as I hovered over to the doorway. The nurse just stared at me. “And since when do you make the orders around here?!” She asked indignantly.

“As long as it gets me out of here, then anytime will do.” The nurse swung her head towards Mewtwo. “What was that?” Mewtwo just grinned.

“I give Lateon temporary permission to give orders from the time that I’m in here until I’m that I’m out of hearing range of you.” Mewtwo replied. The nurse was now indignantly staring at both of us by now. “Everything is gonna go to pot around here if this keeps up!” She said as Mewtwo exited the room, a large grin on his face.

“I’ve been wanting to do that all day!” He said as Latias and I chuckled. “Well? What was it that you needed?” He asked.

“I need you to use the intercom.” I said. “There’s something that everyone here might want to know.”

2 hours earlier: Somewhere over Illinois.

Matt and Jared’s team were now headed back to Kincheloe. And Matt was very frustrated. Not only had he not been able to ask Brad what he knew about the P.A.O., but now he had to track him down AGAIN.

“Hey, you okay?” Matt heard Jared ask him. “Huh? Oh, it’s nothing. I just hate all these stupid scavenger hunts, and now we have even less info to go on!”

Jared shook his head. “Well, at least we know where he lives.” He said. “If Brad returns, then they’ll let us know.”

Matt just shrugged. “I know, but he always seems to be one step ahead of us.” Jared rolled his eyes. “You just don’t like having someone get the better of you.” Matt went silent.

“We’ll find him, eventually.” He said as Matt sat up. Jared recognized the look in his eyes. “What are you thinking Matt?”

“Hand me my laptop.” Is all Matt said. He took the laptop and began to type. (“What is he doing now?”) Jared thought to himself.

“Jared.” Matt said. “I think I’ve found the solution.” Jared moved over next to Matt. “What did you find?” He asked.

“Nothing yet, but I have an idea.” Matt replied. “They said that Brad and the ‘Latias’ flew north, straight north. If we can get authorized use of the spy satellites, then we can check all the area north.”

Jared looked at him like he was stupid. “Umm, do you realized just how large an area that is?” Matt looked at him. “Yes, but you also have to realize that the P.A.O.’s hideout won’t be in a city area. There’s no place to hide aircraft like what they had.”

Jared still stared at him. “If they were to hide, then it would have to be a remote area, so as to keep their whereabouts hidden.” Matt continued. “Shrink down the search area to the remote areas, and get all the satellite reconnaissance experts on this, and we could have some good leads pretty quick.”

“And how do you plan on getting the government to allow usage of the spy satellites and so many personnel?” Jared asked him.

Matt just pulled out a tape recorder. “Because I now have even more official proof that there is in fact a kid with a hoverboard and a strange flying red creature.” He said. “And confessions from the kids family that it is true.”

Jared still looked skeptical. “Well you can try, but I’m not quite sure you’ll get them to listen to you.” Matt ignored Jared’s comments and continued with his plan. “All I need to do now is add a motivational patriotic speech to help sucker them into it.”

Present time: The Pokemon Resistance Meeting hall.

We had just entered the meeting hall, and Mewtwo decided it was time for some answers. “All right, why do you need me to call everyone in here? This type of thing is only for information that everyone must know.”

I shook my head. “It is information that everyone must know.” I said. “Which would be?” Mewtwo was getting impatient.

I sighed. “All right, I’ll tell you. I found Crystoldia.”

Mewtwo simply stood there. And next thing I knew, he was at the intercom telling all the Pokemon to come to the Meeting hall.

He rushed back over to me. “You really found it?! You FOUND Crystoldia?!” He was just as excited as Latias.

I nodded. “Yes, yes I have. And I swear I would never had expected to see such a sight in my entire life.”

Pokemon had begun to filter into the room, and were looking at us curiously. “I’ll wait to tell the rest when everyone is here.” I said. Mewtwo nodded. I could tell he was impatient to hear more, but he waited anyway.

Once all the Pokemon had gathered, I moved forward. “Attention all Pokemon of the resistance.” Mewtwo said. “Lateon has discovered something that we have all been waiting for.” He nodded to me, and I took that as my Que.

“I have found Crystoldia.” I said. And the room went wild. Pokemon were yelling and hollering, some had even begun dancing. I just sat there in awe.

“Why in the world are they going crazy like this?!” I asked Mewtwo. “Because the prophecy is showing signs of being fulfilled.” He replied.

I just stared at him. “Prophecy? What prophecy?” I was really confused. “QUIET PLEASE!” Mewtwo telepathically shouted to all the Pokemon. They finally settled down, and Mewtwo continued.

“It seems that Lateon himself has not even heard the prophecy.” Mewtwo said. “And I think it only fitting that the possible fulfiller of the prophecy at least know the prophecy that he is to complete.”

The rest of the Pokemon nodded and Mewtwo turned to me. “There has been a small prophecy that has made it’s way through our stories about one who would finally bring peace to this conflict.” He said. “The prophecy has been around since the Guidecrystal itself was found.”

I listened on, not sure what to think. First I had the Guidecrystal bonded to me, then Latios’ spirit, I’ve found Crystoldia and am now it’s Guardian, and now I may also be the fulfiller of a prophecy? It just didn’t seem to make any sense to me. Who in the world am I supposed to be anyway?

Mewtwo continued. “It tells of a person, they were never specified as human or Pokemon. But throughout the telling of the prophecy we told it like a Pokemon would fulfill it. We never dreamt that they would be both human AND Pokemon.”

The Pokemon in the room all nodded in agreement. “The prophecy says that the fulfiller would finally be the one to find Crystoldia, and would then bring an end to the conflict with the enemies. Which we have now deduced to be the P.A.O.”

I was deep in thought as I listened to him. It just didn’t seem to fit me. Me, the fulfiller of a prophecy? Why? But the way he explained it, it started to make sense.

“We now believe you, Lateon. To be the fulfiller of this prophecy.” Mewtwo said to me. I looked over at Latias. She had the same look on her face as every Pokemon in the room.

Could it really be? Yes, there was no mistaking it. It was the look of hope. They were hoping that I could bring an end to their long drawn-out conflict with the P.A.O.

“Can, can we continue this meeting some other time?” I asked Mewtwo. He looked surprised and was disappointed, but knew why I had to stop the meeting.

“Very well.” He said. “As much as I’d like to learn more about Crystoldia, you still need time to ponder this.” He turned to the rest of the Pokemon. “Lateon needs time to think. We shall continue this when he is ready.”

The rest of the Pokemon looked just as disappointed, but they agreed. And when they all filtered out of the Meeting hall, only Mewtwo, Latias and I remained.

“Are you well?” Mewtwo asked. “I-I don’t know what to think…” I half-consciously replied. “It’s just so much to believe…”

Mewtwo nodded. “That it is. When you are ready, then tell me and I shall resume the meeting. I do hope to learn more about Crystoldia.” I looked up at him. “I will when possible. I just can’t think right now.”

He chuckled. “Then I will leave you to reorient yourself. Hope it seems, is finally returning.” With that he walked off, and Latias hovered over and gave me a big hug.

“Perhaps a hug will help!” She said as I smiled up at her. “Thanks Latias. I don’t know what I’d do without you here with me.” She just blushed.

“Well we might as well go back to our room.” She said. “It’ll be better than this large empty cavern.” And with that, we flew off to our room.

Present time: Pecha falls

“Hey Allie!” A Kirlia shouted over to a small Eevee. She turned around. “Oh hi Kyrila!” Allied replied.

“How are you enjoying your first adventure?” Kyrila asked. “Adventure? I wouldn’t really call it an adventure.” Allie said as Kyrila just giggled.

“No, it isn’t really much of an adventure. But it’s so cool to actually be able to see the outdoors!” Allie happily nodded. “You got that right! Anything is better than sitting in that dank maze of caves for the rest of your life!”

Kyrila rolled her eyes. “Truer words never spoken.” She said. “Hey! But what about Lateon?” Allie stopped collecting her berries and looked over at Kyrila.

“What about Lateon?” She asked. “Well, do you think he’s the one to stop this conflict? He has the Guidecrystal, and he’s seen visions no doubt being of Crystoldia.” She looked thoughtful. “What do you think? Could he really be that one?”

Allie just sat there thinking. “It may be possible.” She said. “And I do hope he is. Because all this fighting has been going on for much too long!” Kyrila nodded in agreement. “I want this to all end soon as well Allie.”

Just then they heard a scream. “THE P.A.O. IS COMING!” Allie and Kyrila looked around frightened. “W-What’s going on?!” Allie asked Kyrila as Pokemon began to panic.

“EVERYONE CALM DOWN!” The leader of the group, an Alakazam yelled. “We won’t be able to avoid them! So we have to act like we’re just regular Pokemon foraging for food! The P.A.O. doesn’t bother with Pokemon that don’t show signs of being affiliated with the resistance.”

Everyone nodded and began to go about their business, trying their best to look unsuspicious.

No sooner had they done this, then the P.A.O. choppers flew over. “Try to stay calm…” Allie and Kyrila whispered to each other.

The choppers stopped and hovered over the small plain next to the falls. Several ropes tumbled out of the chopper and soldiers rapidly slid down them, bringing their weapons to bear.

“Allie! They’re going to shoot us!” Kyrila whispered to Allie in a panicky tone.

The soldiers simply walked around, examining the area for anything suspicious. They approached another small group of Pokemon and looked around them.

Then a soldier yelled out. He had found the stash of baskets and other items for carrying the berries. “Oh no…” Allie said as the soldiers whipped their guns out and pointed them at the Pokemon.

“One move and you’re all going down!” The leader yelled. The Pokemon knew they couldn’t fight all the soldiers, and they slowly gathered in the spot where the soldiers told them to stay.

“What do we do now?” Kyrila quietly asked Allie once they were all detained. “Wait for Lateon.” Allie said. “If I know him, once he figures out what’s wrong, he’ll be here as soon as he can.”

1 hour later: P.A.O. headquarters, deep Canadian wilderness

“TANNOR!” Gravely shouted out the door of his office. Tannor was running to get there on time, and Gravely was already getting impatient.

“Yes sir!” He said as he composed himself and walked into the office. “You’re late.” Gravely responded.

“But sir, you said for me to be here at three o’ clock. It’s two forty-eight right now. I’m early if I’m anything.” Tannor said, recognizing Gravely’s traditional, ‘who cares?’ look.

“I want an update on what the search parties have found.” Gravely told him.

Tannor gave him a reassuring smile to try and calm him down. “Search party 6 has found a small group of Pokemon foraging for food.” Gravely impatiently tapped his foot on the floor. “Well?”

Tannor looked up at him. “They had baskets for collecting and carrying food. Regular Pokemon don’t use items like that.”

“They’re part of the resistance.” Gravely said. “Keep them there and send the other search parties over. The resistance doesn’t let their members alone in danger. And we can use that to our advantage.” He grinned.

Tannor had a sick feeling in his stomach. Gravely wasn’t the kind to show mercy, and if worse came to worse. Well, there would be one heck of a bloody battle.

He quickly left to give the orders. He didn’t want to, but he also didn’t have a choice.

1 hour 23 minutes later: Lateon’s room, the Pokemon resistance

I had been laying for several hours on my bed, just thinking about what had been told to me in the Meeting hall. I was the fulfiller of a prophesy?! I still couldn’t believe it. There was NO WAY that I, formerly the human nobody, Brad Snider was the fulfiller of something so important!

At least that’s what I thought.

“Lateon?” I heard Latias say. “I know this was a lot for you to take in, but I want you to know something.” I looked over at her. “And what’s that Latias?” I asked.

“I believe you are the one to stop this conflict.” Is all she said. I just looked up at the ceiling. “Now she believes that I’m the one as well?” I thought to myself.

All of a sudden, another alarm went off. “WHOA!” Latias and I both jumped. “W-What’s going on?!” I asked. “I’m not sure, but this alarm means that we need to go to the Meeting hall again! Come on!” Latias shot towards the door, but I grabbed her.

“What are you doing?!” She asked. “Allow me to show you a better way of getting there.” I said as I phased us both straight to the Meeting hall.

We arrived and Mewtwo was frantically pacing the speaking platform. He saw us and motioned for us to come over.

“What is going on Mewtwo?!” I asked him after we flew over. “The foraging group hasn’t responded in an hour.” He said absent-mindedly. “That means that something happened. We always have an Alakazam there to communicate with us telepathically. But they haven’t replied in an hour!”

Latias and I looked at each other. “I-It wasn’t the group with Allie in it was it?!” Latias asked Mewtwo. He simply nodded sadly. “Yes, yes it was…”

Latias looked at me. “We have GOT to help them!” She told me. “Wait!” Mewtwo interrupted her. You can help, but I wouldn’t recommend that you get tangled up in this Latias.”

“I’ll take care of it.” I said. “I have to repay Allie for her kindness to me when I first arrived anyway.” And with that, I took off. Simply phasing through the ground headed for Pecha falls.

I knew where it was simply from the information I got from the thoughts of the other panicked Pokemon.

     “I’m coming Allie!” I thought. I’m coming!

I shot through the ground in the direction of where I thought was Pecha falls. I tried funneling my energy to my eyes to aid in seeing them as well, but it seemed that I could only do one thing at a time.

I soon began to see some faint green silhouettes as I approached the area. “Darn it!” I thought. “There’s a whole bunch of them!”

I began to look for Allie, and found her shortly. Needless to say, she was scared. “Allie…” I telepathed to her, I could see her jump a bit at my voice. But I then noticed a weak smile cross her face.

“I knew you’d come! And umm, can you hear my thoughts?” She thought. “Yes I can.” I replied. “Now then, just sit tight. I’ll take care of this.”

I saw her smile, a bit more reassured this time. “Hey Kyrila…” She whispered to the Kirlia. “He’s here…” Kyrila looked at Allie strangely. “Who’s here?”

Just then, a large crystal shaft shot up out of the ground and impaled one of the choppers, creating nothing short of mayhem on the surface.

“WHAT IN THE-?!” A soldier began to say, he didn’t get any farther. I then telekinetically launched him into another soldier and rose up out of the ground, staring imposingly at the rest of the soldiers.

“Pick on someone who fights back!” I yelled at them, then stretching my hand out and launching Crystal Stream. It raked across their stack of radio equipment ammo boxes, creating yet another fantastic explosion.

By now, the choppers had begun to bring their guns to bear, and I took a hint. I dashed upwards, disorienting their aim and shot right back down, while launching an energy sphere towards one of the choppers.

It hit the main rotor, which shattered into several hundred high velocity shards. I then realized that the shards would definitely hit some of the Pokemon. And all of a sudden, I entered my slow-motion concentration mode.

I reached out, and created a barrier between the Pokemon and rotor shards. I flinched as not only the shards, but also the chopper hit the barrier and exploded.

I knew that the P.A.O. soldiers wouldn’t take long to get their sights on me. So I pulled the chopper’s remains away from the huddled up Pokemon and launched away from my spot. Which, had I been there much longer I would have been turned into Swiss cheese from all the bullets that followed.

I curved around and charged another energy sphere, stopping and smashing it into the center of a group of soldiers. I then heard a very menacing sound coming from the chopper. The sound of rotating missile racks.

I sped off trying to get as far away from that spot as I could before they launched the missile. They fired the missile, but it curved around and followed me. “OH CRAP!” I yelled as I made a sharp twist downwards and phased into the ground.

The missile lost track of me and kept going until it exploded. I however, shot back up out of the ground through the second group of soldiers, launching them aside as I released a charged Crystal Stream directly into the belly of the chopper.

It tore through the chopper and I phased back into the ground right before it crashed. Which by the way, was right where the soldiers were.

There was one chopper left, and they were now readying every gun they had. As soon as I phased out of the ground, their guns were firing. I barely avoided a bad meeting with some automatic weapons.

They followed me with their aim as I flew in an arc. But the advantage of stopping was mine.

I halted to a standstill, but they still had their momentum going. And that gave me just enough time to slam another energy sphere directly into the cockpit.

I turned around and flew to the Pokemon as the chopper exploded. Only to see a soldier holding Allie with a gun to her head.

“NO!” I yelled. “COME ANY CLOSER AND I’LL DO IT!” He yelled back. I tried to think of something, but it all seemed hopeless. The other Pokemon were too far away to catch him off guard.

Then something popped into my head. And I grinned. “What? What’s so funny?! You’re little friend here will be no more if you try anything!” The soldier had an uneasy look on his face.

I just stared at him. “You forget…” I said. “I’m a psychic type. I don’t NEED to be near you to get you.” His eyes grew large. “But I can still pull this trigger before you do anything!” He yelled, of course being extremely uneasy by now.

I simply concentrated on the gun, messing with the inner workings of it, making the ammo clip fall out.

The soldier stared in horror at it. “Oops.” I said as I shot forwards, knocking him out and grabbing Allie.

The rest of the Pokemon went wild, cheering and shouting. Allie looked up at me. “Thank you so much! You saved my life!” I blushed a bit and smiled. “Yeah, I guess I did.”

“All right.” I said. I think you all need to get back home.” I was about to begin taking as many back to the resistance’s cave as I could. But then I sensed something approaching.

I whipped my head around, preparing to attack whatever it was. And was greeted by the sight of Mewtwo and a whole bunch of flying Pokemon.

I sighed in relief that I wasn’t going to have to fight yet another battle and waved to them. They landed and Mewtwo floated over to me. “What happened?!” He asked.

I looked away. “I uh… I made a mess…” He nodded as he looked around. “I can see that…” I noticed several Pokemon taking the unconscious soldier into custody.

“I think we had better get back to the cave.” I said. “Agreed.” Mewtwo replied. “We should probably fly back…” Mewtwo and I both said at the same time. We looked at each other. “Great minds think alike!” I said as we both chuckled.

Some of the stronger Pokemon began to carry some of the others back towards the caves. And I noticed that some of them were struggling from trying to carry too many Pokemon.

“Here, let me help.” I said as I telekinetically began to lighten the load.

I was probably carrying about twenty medium sized Pokemon as we flew back. I was already a bit tired from the battle, but I didn’t have all that much trouble carrying them.

We began to near the cave and lo and behold, there was Latias. She saw me coming and shot over.

“LATEON!” She shouted as she hugged me. “Umm, I’m a little busy here Latias…” I said. She then realized that I was carrying about twenty Pokemon.

“Oh my! Here, let me help!” She flew over and had some of the smaller Pokemon ride on her back. One of them being Allie of course.

We flew back into the caves and there were large quantities of anxious Pokemon waiting for us. As soon as they saw us they began cheering. I just set the Pokemon I was carrying down and helped the others with their ‘loads’.

I tried to avoid being seen, but I was inevitably spotted. “Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!” A Nidoqueen cried as her son, also being his first time foraging returned to her.

I just smiled and waved. Quickly trying to get through them all. I looked back at Latias, and she was just grinning from ear to ear.

“Boy you sure got popular!” She telepathed to me. It was the only way you would hear each other. I just nodded and finally made it through, only then realizing that I could have just phased through to the end.

We flew back to our room, and I yawned. “Man! I’m tired…” I said as I lay down on the bed. Latias flew over and sat on the bed next to me.

“Well from what I heard, you had quite a battle! You should be tired.” I nodded weakly and promptly fell asleep.

“You must return to Crystoldia…” I heard that voice from Crystoldia again. “Why? What do you mean?” I asked.

“You must replenish your energy…” The voice continued. “As you battle, you will use energy. You have to replenish it back at Crystoldia. You won’t die if you do not. But you will be significantly weakened if you use all your energy and do not return.”

I just blinked a few times. “Okay… Now that’s the definition of reading the fine print if I’ve ever heard it.” The voice chuckled. “Yes. “I suppose it would be. Do you remember feeling stronger when you joined with the Master Crystal?” I nodded. “That was your energy being replenished. You won’t run out easily unless you keep using Wrath of Crystoldia-”

I interrupted the voice. “Wrath of Crystoldia? What is that?” The voice continued. “Wrath of Crystoldia is the move you used when you first fought Lucano. The same move that destroyed the training arena.

I blinked a few more times. “Well, I wasn’t really planning on using that move very much. Seeing as it almost killed me. But okay.”

“Once you learn to better control your powers, then you will be able to use Wrath of Crystoldia more. You actually should have been dead after using it so soon after gaining the power. But you are not. And that is all that matters. This is why you are the Guardian of Crystoldia.”

I nodded and the dream began to fade again. “More will be explained later…” The voice said. “But you need to rest for now…”

I woke up and looked around. It was nighttime, and Latias was fast asleep. I could leave her now to go to Crystoldia. It wouldn’t take all night and most of the day before I got back this time.

I gave her a quick goodbye kiss and flew off towards Crystoldia once again.

"SHINY!? I LOVE SHINY! WHAT KIND OF SHINY WAS IT?!" you do understand that there is only one type of shiny, right?
